How to Choose the right Spa
Aug 31
So you’ve decided to put in an above-ground spa in your back yard. There’s nothing better than climbing into steaming hot water at the end of the day and gazing over your garden while your cares soak away. Before you peel those clothes off, however, you’ll need to make several decisions about your hot tub before you know which spa to purchase:
- What size spa?
- Do you want special features such as a waterfall or stereo system?
- Which manufacturer is best?
- What about make and model?
- Where to put the spa?
- What type of support do you need or prefer?
- What about a spa gazebo?
- How much is all of this going to cost?
There are many questions that need to be answered.
The first thing you need to do is do your research. You can look up local spa dealers but before you step foot in a showroom, you may want to check online for recommendations and choices. You may also order a brochure and/or DVD to be mailed to your home for more information.
How many people will be using your spa? Do you want a recliner or just single-seating all the way around? This is when you may want to visit a spa dealer and sit inside a spa on the showroom floor. Some allow you to come dressed in your swimsuit for a real soak. This will tell you a lot about the spa.
Know what it is you’re looking for and something about the choices and do not give in to aggressive sales tactics. The spa business is quite competitive and the salespeople may remind you of used car salesmen.
The bottom line is this: choose a quality spa because you get what you pay for. You don’t want to purchase the cheapest thing you can find and then spend more money in frequent repair bills. Also choose larger than you think you would need. And you must test it out first. Each brand is different and if you don’t like the lounger in one brand, you may love it in another. So do your research and test drive your spa and don’t let the salesperson push you around. Think about your process for buying a car. It really is the same with buying a spa.
Also, see if the dealer will throw in a cover and steps for free. You’ll definitely want both of these…
